Congratulations to Duygu Kocaefe – NSERC Alliance-Mitacs Accelerate grants

A project led by Duygu Kocaefe, a REGAL member and full professor at UQAC, has been awarded a grant through the NSERC Alliance Grants-Mitacs Accelerate grant. In this program, a single joint application is submitted to simplify the preparation and evaluation of applications, the details of which are as follows:

Project title: Partial replacement of anode raw materials with bio-sourced materials for aluminum production to reduce GHG emissions
Principal Applicant: Duygu Kocaefe, UQAC
Co-applicants: Yasar Kocaefe, UQAC; Daniel Marceau, UQAC; Lukas Dion, UQAC
Partners: Aluminerie Alouette, Centres de recherche CanmetÉNERGIE, Airex, Bioenergie AE Cte-Nord, Boisaco, Bois Francs Bio Serra andRain Carbon

Grant amount: $2,119,860 in cash and $2,708,144 in-kind contributions

Duygu Kocaefe is also director of graduate studies in engineering – research component, at the University of Quebec in Chicoutimi, holder of the Chaire de recherche sur les matériaux industriels (CHIMI) and Axis 1 manager (Production of primary aluminium ) at REGAL.
