REGAL offered recognition scholarships for students who particularly excelled in their research. An amount of $5,000 was divided between the recipients. During the 2025-2026 year, several REGAL students stood out. The influence can be very diverse: having published a scientific article; giving a lecture at a school; a communication at a conference or media participation to popularize science. To be eligible, it is essential to have clearly identified the affiliation with REGAL.

Here are the 15 REGAL student members who were rewarded and their contribution that made them shine! Congratulations!

For the 2025-2026 competition, two scholarships of $2,000 CAD were awarded.

The recipient of the Mario-Fafard Scholarship (Master) is Rukayat Olayinka, a student at the Université du Québec à Chicoutimi, under the supervision of Reza Jafari and the co-supervision of Mathieu Fiset. Her research topic is ” Development and Performance Evaluation of Geopolymer Concrete Incorporated Bauxite Residue for Precast Pipe Applications”. Her academic record is exemplary. Furthermore, through specific examples of support for her female colleagues, she has clearly demonstrated the importance of being attentive to her community to help other female students.

The recipient of the Mario-Fafard Scholarship (Doctoral) is Yinuo Li, a student at McGill University, under the supervision of Raynald Gauvin. Her research topic is ” Systematic Quantification Method on Intermetallic Distribution in Aluminum alloys with Electron Microscopy”. The jury highlighted the excellence of her academic record, her accomplishments as detailed in her career path, and her insights on the importance of raising awareness about the realities of the aluminum sector and supporting their career paths by listening to their experiences to help female students.

Congratulations!

For the 2024-2025 competition, one scholarship of CA$10,000 was awarded, as well as a paid internship of at least three months in one of Hatch’s offices.

Congratulations to the recipient:

Bazoumana Sanogo, doctorate’s student at UQAC under the supervision of Lukas Dion and Sébastien Gaboury
Title of his research project: Compréhension et reproduction des perturbations thermiques survenant pendant la production d’aluminium primaire

The student will have the opportunity to continue his professional development by working on exciting projects with recognized industry experts.
